What is GtG?

Glory to God

On most of my paintings I add, along with my signature, the initials GtG sometimes on the front but on the back with smaller ones. You might wonder what that is all about. When I first began to paint it was a magical experience or maybe it would be better to say that it was a spiritual experience.

I had never painted before but when I put brush to paper it just came. There were moments when it felt like there was someone inside me moving the brush making all these wonderful things happen. I was in awe of the things that I could make and got a lot of comments from other people as well. I was amazed and I truly felt like God had blessed me with something special.

But knowing that I was a little worried. I decided very quickly that I needed to be careful or pride would be my undoing. It is far from my nature to be prideful but I saw it would be very easy for me to fall into that trap. So, I decided right then that every time I signed a painting I would add the initials GtG, Glory to God, to remind myself that I had been blessed by God. The talent was a gift from him and in using that talent to create I needed to give the glory to Him and Him alone.

I still feel that way and strive to honor Him with my art. I want above all for Him to use the things I create to touch and bless the lives of those around me. I am filled with gratitude for the things that God has blessed me with. One of the biggest blessings he has granted me is my ability to create something of beauty for you.
